The 24th annual Bon Odori Bali Festival will be held on Saturday, 6 September 2014. This fun event has been running since 1990, and is organized by the Bali Japan Club.
There are many Japanese expats living in Bali and multi-cultural marriages between Japanese and Balinese are common. Bon Odori is a Japanese Summer Festival that celebrates the Japanese culture through traditional dance, games and food. Most women also usually wear a Yukata, the traditional summer kimono, to the festival.
This year the venue for the festival is the 5 Star Ayodya Resort in Nusa Dua. Located directly on the beachfront, the Ayodya is one of the longer established hotels in the BTDC complex and the ideal venue for Bon Odori.
Families come to the festival to enjoy various games, dance performances and food stalls. Another popular event is the Cosplay Championship, where participants dress up as their favorite characters.
Kura-Kura Bus is proud to be a part of Bon Odori this year by offering a free shuttle service from the parking area at BTDC to the Ayodya Resort. This is a wonderful solution to the problem of having to try and find parking near the venue, as space is limited and the festival usually attracts a huge crowd.
The shuttle service will operate between the BTDC parking area and Ayodya from 16:30 to 21:00, starting an hour before the festival begins and running half an hour after the festival ends. This service is free of charge and everyone is welcome on board!
